Rome is located in the south of Europe, at the same latitude of New York. Rome’s time zone is one hour ahead Greenwich. The difference with some of the world’s most important cities is : London –1; New York –6; Sidney +9. It is 600 km far from Milan ( 4 and ˝ hours by train or 50 minutes by plane), 200 km from Naples and 300 km from Florence. Rome is in the centre of the Italian road system that developed from the old and ancient consular roads.

Starting from its foundation 2700 years ago on the seven hills, along the Tiber river that nowadays run through the city, Rome grew up and today has 3 millions people resident, on a 1500 sq.mts. surface. In Rome there is also the independent Vatican State. Rome became Italy’s capital city in 1870.

It is 28 km. far from the seaside and has excellent railway and road connections with most of the main Italian cities. Romehas an average altitude of 20 meters on the sea level, and is in a huge plain in the middle of the Agro romano, bordering on the west with the Tirreno coast and on the east with the Appennines. Basically the Rome’s weather is temperate, its temperature is between 5° C and 15° C in the winter and between 20° C and 30° C during the summer.

Rome has two main international airports : the Leonardo da Vinci or Fiumicino that is 30 km. southwest, while the other airport is Ciampino, 15 Km. southeast. Termini is the main railway station in Rome and it is also the main urban transport system, where the two underground lines ( “A” and “B” ) intersect ( you can use them from 05.30 to 23.30 ).
